Savoie (Eiger) Drive Update

Galibier Design - Eiger Turntable Drive SystemWe just completed version four of the Savoie prototype’s motor mount.  This is getting real close!

This version improves on isolation between the drive system and the turntable base, as well as introducing tilt adjustment for the idler wheel.

Tilt adjustment improves pulley alignment to reduce scrubbing noise against the platter. We’re going to evaluate this version for a while, looking for subtle areas to enhance.  This version is very close to the final architecture and addresses all of the areas we were looking to refine.

Not shown in the photo is the magnetic tensioning system – designed to fine-tune the side load of the rim against the platter, as well as the lateral load on the motor shaft.

Part 2 of this series is here.
