Cartridges by Dynavector

Old faithful …

Our trusty XV1s was our #1 for some five years.

Dynavectors paint the music with bold, broad brush strokes but are never lacking in rendering fine detail and nuance.

We tend to recommend Dynavectors for systems which tend to lack a bit of authority.

If your system is a bit too “polite”, Dynavectors are an excellent choice.  Then again, Dynavectors are an excellent choice.

Rebuilds, trade-ins are available.  Inquire for details.

Galibier Design - Dynavector XX-2 Cartridge

XX2 Mk II

The evolution of the Mk I which was the first cartridge to feature a "magnetic flux damper" (patent) and softened magnetism" (patent) processes that reject the magnetic fluctuation that is detrimental to a moving coil cartridges performance.

The The DV XX-2 MKII retains the benefit of the flux damper but features the Alnico-5 magnet and the similar rigid construction to the Te Kaitora Rua.

Alnico magnets exhibit high magnetic flux density combining with a low coercive therefore magnetic resistance is lower than other magnetic types such as rare earth and ferrite, providing the exceptional stability of the XX-2 MKII output voltage.

Galibier Design - Dynavector Te Kaitora Rua Cartridge

Te Kaitora Rua

The original Te Kaitora cartridge was the result of collaboration between Dynavector Japan and Dynavector New Zealand. It's name translates from the native Maori language as "the discoverer".

The improved Te Kaitora Rua continues the journey by incorporating many of the newest features of its Dynavector stable-mates, the XV-1s and XX-2. The Te Kaitora Rua carries on the tradition of the original's silk-like treble and openness.

Some key improvements include a titanium head piece for increased rigidity, a short, 6mm long boron cantilever (shared with the XV1-s and XV1-t).

Galibier Design - Dynavector XV1-s Cartridge

XV1-s

The evolution of the XV1, the cartridge is immediately recognizable with its magnetic circuit comprised of 8 small ALNICO magnets.  The composite body of the original XV1 was replaced with one made of ebony.

Further improving linearity, the magnetic path is divided into two.  In the magnetic gap, a specially designed magnetic flux equalizing piece is placed. On the front yokes, magnetic stabilizing coils are wound.

The current XV-1s features the advanced multi magnet design that stabilizes the magnetic flux density between the front yoke and the equalizer component, around the air gap.

The XV-1s also features a revolutionary square shaped front aperture (the original XV1 was round) with a matching square shaped armature this enables the moving coil wound armature to move in an equalized and stable magnetic flux.

Although slightly smaller in dimension, the front yoke aperture is also square shape to match the armature along with a square shaped counterbore to the equalizer component part.
